The first detour was to the Emergency Department at the hospital in Price, Utah. While the doctors checked out Lily (malady: two ear infections), the kids took to the parking lot to play a little whiffle ball.

Fortunately, the E.D. at Price was empty except for us so we were out and picking up meds at the local K-Mart in an hour. As we zipped through southern Utah, we spotted something cool, Arches National Park. It was a quick decision to stop and check it out...we are all glad that we did!
Arches National Park preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, like the world-famous Delicate Arch, as well as many other unusual rock formations. In some areas, the forces of nature have exposed millions of years of geologic history. The extraordinary features of the park create a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures that is unlike any other in the world. (National Park Service)

After spending some time at Arches National Park and a much-needed rest in Cortez, Colorado, we took a planned detour to Four Corners.
The Four Corners is the survey point at the intersection of the four U.S. states of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona and the high desert plateau region surrounding that point in the southwestern United States. This is the only point in the United States where four states touch. Four Corners Monument is located at the coordinates 36°59′56.31532″N, 109°02′42.62019″W. (Wikipedia)

From Four Corners it was a pretty straight and uneventful ride to Cedarosa.
We arrived at the ranch about 9:oo pm and settled in for the night!!
Fortunately mom had food waiting for us, including tortillas and green chili (yum).
