SUMMER '07

It's officially SUMMER!

School's out...June 21 has come...and the sun is still shining at 9:00 P.M. It's time for flip-flops, shorts and staying up too late. It's also time for me to slow down and breathe. This is great.

Last night Steve, the girls and I went to a Youth Worship Meeting where our son, Mitchell, was part of the worship team. It was awesome! Three hours of LOUD worship music punctuated by "spiritual exercises," scripture reading and testimonies. Wow. Definitely geared for teens. And I so loved it! It was an added blessing to see about 10 of my current and/or former students in attendance. (I cannot describe what that means to me.)

One of the scriptures that was shared was Hebrews 10:39 "But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved."
I like that: DO NOT SHRINK BACK.

FATHER'S DAY '07

Happy Father's Day, Steve! Love, your kids.

ENGINEERING DESIGN EXPERIENCE

Ninth graders presented their final products of the Engineering Design Experience Wednesday, June 13, before students and a review panel of teachers.

All teams approached the 3 meter track with hopes of covering the distance in less than 3 seconds.
None succeeded.

For a month students worked in science class on the Engineering Design Experience (sponsored by World in Motion and SAE). Working in teams they collected consumer information and learned about gears in order to design and build a motorized vehicle that would appeal to girls 6 - 10 years of age. Although no team met the speed goal, each learned much about design, teamwork, perseverance and dipomacy. I have plans to expand the project next year.
